The William R. Poole Fund was established by his family through the Atlanta Classic Foundation Charities, Inc. (ACFC) in 2006 immediately following William's death. The ACFC managed and promoted Atlanta’s original PGA TOUR golf tournament, the BellSouth Classic. William was a volunteer marshal for the BellSouth Classic and was en route to the 2006 tournament, when he lost his life in an automobile accident. In 2008, the William R. Poole Foundation obtained its incorporation and 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization status.  The foundation was established as a tribute to William's legacy, his strong character, exceptional work ethic, service to the community; uncompromised leadership and love of children. The Foundation promotes leadership, academic excellence and community involvement in the Atlanta area.  The Foundation supports existing programs and activities that provide leadership training, educational outreach and fundamental assistance to youth in our community.
